I Lack A Witty Title For This Post…
I was sitting here trying to think of what I wanted to write about and I decided that I didn’t really *want* to write about anything specifically. I’m not feeling 100% which kinda makes me worry a bit, because of the new treatment plan I started this week. I’ve had a headache for three days…not something that’s a ton of fun, ya know?
I cooked dinner tonight and it was one of those OMGWHATAMIGOINGTOCOOKWEREALLGONNASTARVE type things…so we had ‘The Kitchen Sink’ for dinner - ground beef, two cans of diced tomatoes, a can of Ranch Style Beans, a box of Mac N Cheese and 2 other quarter filled boxes of random pasta. John said it was great - I’m not so sure. Something was missing and it just might have been the cornbread…but who knows?
So, how about that election? Huh? Talk about edge of your seat suspense the whole night! Jerrett had one of those ‘color the states’ maps for school - and I was telling them as the projections were coming in what color to color each state - we got all the way to the end and realized that some teacher decided to do switch the colors around and the “Blue States” were supposed to be colored red and the “Red States” were to be blue…what kind of craziness is that? I wrote a note and said I was morally opposed to coloring blue states red so we did it the correct way. No one wrote back.
My dad had a wreck the other morning in Chico (Texas for you non-local folks) - he was sitting in the turn lane getting ready to turn into one of the crushers and a sleeping truck driver rear-ended him going 60 miles an hour. He actually hit him twice - once in the back of the trailer, which made his truck kind of jack-knife-y and then came back and hit him in the back of his tractor. Apparently it did a lot of damage, but I haven’t seen it. Dad is doing ok - they want to keep an eye out for his back pain, but otherwise, he’s ok. We chatted last night and he seemed in good spirits.
My step-mom had knee replacement surgery last Monday and is doing ok. In fact, she was doing really well there for a while, but seems to have pushed it a bit hard and is now paying the price. I got her a really funny card today that will surely make her laugh! I’m gonna mail it out tomorrow.
John and I are celebrating our anniversary on Saturday - I know what I’m doing - I see to much gray when I look in the mirror, so I have an appointment at 1 to see Rachel. He, on the other hand, will lay around and play video games all weekend I am sure.
We’ve finalized our plans for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We’re going to go out to Bakersfield to see John’s folks and hang out for a few days. I am looking forward to getting away, it’ll be nice. My birthday is the day after Thanksgiving, so we’ve decided to stay till Saturday - so we aren’t driving back on my birthday. Hopefully while we’re there, we’ll get to hang out with some of John’s close friends, who we always try to connect with any time we’re in close proximity to each other.
Overall, that’s really it. We’re just hanging out and taking things easy.
My Week In Review…
(Because I won’t be able to blog tomorrow, sorry folks!)
Let’s see.
- I think the happy pills finally kicked in…I needed them to really bad, especially this week.
- Came to the realization that people with their minds made up won’t ever change their opinions, no matter how many facts you present.
- Orange juice is good. I’ve been drinking the crap out of it this week.
- The almonds I blogged about the other day are tearing up my mouth.
- I figured out why I can never do some of those really cute hair styles with the front and sides pushed back - it’s because I’m tall and spend a lot of time looking down…not good for the do.
- One of the blogs I read is written by an attorney back home and this week, he did a ‘play by play’ of this case he was watching (open to the public) - and in the end, the guy got 120-life…isn’t 120 years more than a life?
- I was kind shocked that there wasn’t more ‘backlash’ in the community (you know what community) about that preacher in Texas (who had once been a minister in my home town) who was being investigated for Child Pornography whilst simultaneously being approved by a branch of the same Governmental Body to adopt two infant children from Ethiopia with is wife. He was indited a few weeks ago by the FEDS.
- I need to go to the eye Dr. real soon. So does Jerrett.
- I am washing a load of jeans right now. This is the first time I’ve washed a full load of nothing but jeans since probably March.
- I got three new planters for the plants on my counter in the kitchen, but didn’t get any potting soil. Now I have three empty pots and three plants that are overgrowing their current pots.
- Getting things done is rewarding, plus it gives me an exhilarated feeling.
- Firemom successfully made red icing today for Firetruck + Fire Helmet cookies. Shes so Martha.
- I bet the breastfeeding community is stoked about Novembers W Magazine cover. It shows Ang breastfeeding one of the twins.
- There are a number of topics that give me TiredHead. Today, I’ve managed to get involved in discussions that center around three of them.
- Theres a crazy rumor going around that it’s going to be in the 70’s on Saturday. If that’s the truth, then I am so going to the Zoo.
- Tomorrow is my infusion day, I am not looking forward to it - I’ll post some pictures some time of what my arms look like…I look like a drug addict.
- I cut my fingernails last night but didn’t file them, so when I went to scratch my side just now, it hurt like crazy.
- I have cooked three times this week, that has to be some sort of record.
- There are a lot of readers who are local, but none of them ever comment.
- Two loads of laundry down, three to go.
So, yeah - not all that exciting - but not that boring either.
My Week In Review…
Anyone else completely freakin irritated by the federal government rewarding financial giants for their fiscal irresponsibility? This whole thing just makes my blood boil. So, they are banks, S&L’s and other financial institutions - basically, they are businesses who have one focus, ‘money management’ and they have done it so poorly, that the feds are having to step in and ‘fix’ it. Yeah, I want to trust my money to professionals who can’t even manage their own finances and spend responsibly, SIGN ME UP!
Gah!
So much of this whole ‘bailout’ business just makes me want to scream. I say, let em burn. They made their bed, its time to let them lie in it. Make them sell of pieces of themselves in order to continue to do business - or make them downsize and cut payroll, like every other business in the U.S. is being forced to do to survive. Where was the bailout this past December when John’s company was forced to lay off 50% of their workforce? Where was it in January when they discovered that the layoff wasn’t enough, so every employee, including the executives, were forced to take a reduction in pay in order to continue operations? There was no federal bailout then!
What about all of the companies, outside of financial institutions, which have been impacted by the irresponsible fiscal decisions that were made during the ‘housing bubble’ - blue collar workers, like construction companies and manufacturers - how will this bailout help them?
It doesn’t appear to and it really pisses me off!
(ha, this isn’t turning out to be a very good ‘week in review’ post, is it?)
Anyway, so that has my cackles up right now. I don’t support the bailout and I don’t like the fact that the politicians making this decision don’t seem to be listening to their constituency when doing so. I also don’t like the fact that this is being done as a ‘rush job’.
Arg. As you can see, I am fairly worked up over it all!
Other than the bailout fiasco, my week was fairly uneventful. I went to the Dr. Tuesday for blood work, then Friday for the infusion. I had that ‘thing’ last week, which I said went really well…I am looking forward to the follow up to that
. So, that’s about it. Laundry is done, the house is clean and I got all caught up on my TiVo stuff. The week wasn’t as bad as it could have been, that’s for sure…
